New Friends

Last week my wife received a phone call from another player's mother who was, as she stated, "in a panic". Her son is a highly regarded left-handed high school pitcher in the area. She was concerned about her son jumping at a professional contract regardless of the round, $$, etc.
She wondered if she and her husband could introduce themselves to us and talk baseball, since we went through the draft process last year. We had the opportunity to meet and visit with them for about 2 hours. What great people. Their questions were directed at our experiences with the local scouts, with advisors, our son's life in the minor leagues such as: living expenses, adjusting from high school to pro ball, his interaction with older players and vice versa, etc.
My point in bringing this up is that those of you facing the draft experience this June should seek out others who have already gone through the process in your local area. Most people would love to share their experiences with you and in turn provide you with advice you might be able to use. If nothing else, I'm sure you will make some new friends. Good luck to all.
