I would have to say in my son's case that a recent PG showcase really helped him out recruiting wise. A good writeup combined with some good numbers and he was getting a few text from coaches the night of the showcase.

Bolded the important part. The write up means almost zero to college coaches. Put up the right numbers and coaches will contact you.
