Nike and Adidas Catchers Gear

Hello, I am going to start catching and need some gear. I am looking at both Adidas and Nike catchers gear. Does anyone have experience with any of these? The Adidas leg guards and chest protector are each around $40. Nike leg guards are around $120 and chest protector is $40-50. Planning to get an All Star mask. Should I go for one of these two or try other brands like Under Armor, All Star, Easton, ETC? Only thing holding me back with some of the other brands is the price. If I go with Adidas, I would have enough to get a hockey style mask and traditional for summer ball. Any feedback is helpful, thanks.
