Reply to "No Tees"

Back in the day when Terry Pendleton played for the St. Louis Cardinals, I had an opportunity to talk to him about hitting.  He was actually carrying a tee to take home on an off day.  He said that he knew his swing and his flaws.  He worked on a tee to work on the flaws.

I know several hitting instructors who don't believe in tee work.  To each their own.  I will give lessons tonight.  My hitters know that there are certain givens for my instruction.  They will get loosened up doing tee work.  We will do some breakdown drills and work on aspects of the swing.  However, we will also have balls in flight including front toss.  Tees are a tool.  As with all instruction in hitting, swings on the tee and balls in flight need a trained eye watching.  That is the point of instruction.

BTW, on a scale of 1 to 10 my belief that the OP posted an actual conversation is roughly a 3.  LOL
