Reply to "Non-Dominant Shoulder Dislocation..questions"

Shoulder dislocations vary widely in severity - most severe is typically when the shoulder has to be put back in place as opposed to popping out and then back in right away. I've pretty much covered the gamut with mine Smile

If you are starting PT right away, it must not be too severe. Good PT should have you back to full strength in short order. I have found that I must maintain some degree of the PT workouts (pretty much for the rest of my life) to maintain strength and stability in the shoulder. Otherwise, if you put your shoulder in the same type of motion as the injury, you are more likely to re-injure. Make sure you are faithful with the PT and adhere to proper form. The good news is that shoulder dislocation PT is pretty much identical to most throwing arm care exercises so, being a college ball player, you are probably doing most of this stuff regularly anyway. You'll just have to do all of the exercises with both arms now. Balance is a good thing.
Best wishes.
