I think any dialogue that a 2016 can have with a college coach at this point is great. First it genuinely could lead somewhere and second if it doesn't it is a great opportunity for them to get used to corresponding with coaches.

I have mentioned before the mid major schools that my son was recruited by really wanted him to express that he was interested in them. Seemed very important to them.

In this case I think it is great your son has done that and reached out. Who knows where it might lead.
