Having been around the coaching ranks for many years and a teacher as well there is a term that has come up in the educational cirles. It is helicopter parents. described as such because they are said to hover. They never let their kid work things out on their own. The teacher is not teaching right or is unfair. It could never be that the student is not applying himself and similarly it sometimes carries into the athletic realm as well. His level of talent or his attitude might be lacking. etc. I have to say there are more today than when I first started. coaches and teachers have to work within what is going on today. As i say to the younger teachers and yes newer coaches is that you are never going to please everybody and if you try you are in trouble.
