What I see in the showcase report comments is that PG uses positive language to, at a minimum, make even a less skilled player feel good about themselves. No one, players, parents, friends, coaches, etc...want to be told, much less have a public record for the world to see, that they are not any good. The grades and velocities tell the story. I do think that they use discretion in assigning the grades as well. I have seen high school kids at these events that couldn't have made my 13U travel team get ratings of a 6.5...keep in mind that the players (parents) are spending a lot of money to participate in these showcases and PG would be cutting their throat to assign grades of 1-5 and report that Junior has no baseball skills and would be better off playing board games...
