Rooney To Emcee Chicago’s Longest Running Winter Baseball Banquet

CHICAGO, IL- Three key members of the Chicago Cubs organization are among the marquee names scheduled to appear at the Fifty-Eighth Annual Pitch & Hit Club Awards Dinner set for Sunday, January 18, 2004 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.

Ace pitcher Mark Prior, manager Dusty Baker and general manager Jim Hendry will all be recognized for their roles in leading the Cubs franchise to a 2003 division title and its first post-season series victory in 95 years. Prior, the third-place finisher in the NL Cy Young Award voting in his first full major league season, will be recognized as the Chicago Cubs Major League Player of the Year. Hendry will receive the club’s Major League Baseball Executive of the Year honor and Baker will be among the guest speakers on the Stephens Center dais.

A special autograph session will take place from 4:00 PM-5:30 PM followed by the dinner at 5:30 and after-dinner awards program at 7:00 PM. Specific details on the autograph session will be announced at a later time.

The Cubs trio is just part of the lineup card as the Pitch & Hit Club has its best-planned lineup in recent years. White Sox broadcaster John Rooney will serve as Master of Ceremonies and Ron Santo (Health Permitting), White Sox senior adviser Roland Hemond & Cleveland outfielder Jody Gerut are all scheduled to appear.

Tickets are just $45 individually or $450 for a table of ten. Ticket orders are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and can be purchased via the following methods:
