No, and it may make it worse. If you stride, keep your weight back and reach forward with your stride foot until it hits the ground. If you don't, spread your feet more until you get your confidence back, that's usually what causes hitters to lunge in the first place. Get someone to video tape your swing during a game or while hitting off a machine. If you are still moving forward when your hands start to the ball then you have a problem if they don't move until after your forward moentum is stopped then you have no "lunging" problem.
