question for the board?

I have a son who is a 2007.He is a catcher who starts for the varsity and I think has a lot of talent as a catcher.He wants to pursue baseball in college when he graduates high school in a couple of years.He hits O.k. had around .300 batting average for high school team.My question is do you think it would be wiser to spend money on hitting instructions or start sending him to showcases? now?
