Being from Chicago I see both everyday. Ryan Theriot, quick hands, limited torque. Derek Lee, slow/lazy hands and a lot of torque.

A lot of times the amount of torque or separation being created is dependent on the hitters body type. Longer, lankier guys can create a greater degree of separation and sweep through the zone at a pretty quick bat speed. The opposite can be said of shorter guys with avg. levers. The can only get so much out of their body.
