I think it was around 2015 when LL moved their cut off from 4/30 to 12/31. And, then, when people balked, they moved it to 7/31.

August 1st ain't perfect but it's better than May 1st.

PG using May 1st still allows for kids in the Summer to be a year older than everyone else if they were born in May or June.
