Family was invited to tour the university and the athletic facilities via a golf cart (large campus). The assistant coach, who showed us around, then handed us over to the head coach who presented my son an offer in his office. My wife and I sat nearby and let son go with the discussion and clarified what the offer fully entailed. Son asked coach for time because he had 2 visits at other schools pending and an other offer in hand.
A week later, the coach reached out to my son via phone during a 4-hour drive home from a visit to another university. About 5 minutes into the phone call, my son told the coach that he was all in and would like to commit (to my surprise). My son said that there was nothing more to think about. And that was that. This occured in the summer before my son's senior year of high school.
