It was a great matchup Friday night and in fact, a great weekend series overall. The teams' run totals were actually equal, though UVA took 2 of 3 in the series and that's what matters in the standings. The Friday webcast was fun to watch, as was Caples' go-ahead HR for VT on Saturday.

I was sorry to see Ches Harrington victimized by a bad hop and the next reliever allowing an IR to score on Friday night, but such is life out of the bullpen. Still a great season going on for Ches.

For VT, they want to make it clear that they are UVA's equal or better. That affects fan support and recruitment as well as team pride. Three dog fight games should give them fodder for that. Though I'm sure they would've preferred at least one more W!
