Not a fan. Diminishes the defensive role of the catcher. Wouldn't matter how the ball was received as the catcher no longer has to work at that portion of the game (with nobody on take a seat and get comfortable 
). With a runner on, unless you're expecting one in the dirt, just get in the best position to throw whatever that may be . IMO would flip the catcher position to primarily a power bat with a low priority on defense.
