Prior to high school we would spend between $5,000 - $8,000 per year which went towards travel ball tournaments, private instructions, hotels, fees, etc. Once high school hit (public high school) it rose to about $8,000 - $10,000 per year with at least 70% for public high school (practice packs, summer training, "fundraising", team meals, field maintenance, etc). Even though it was expensive we viewed it as family time, where the entire family drove up to 6 hours away for a high school tournament. Gave us the ideal time to talk with our kids, find out their interests, what is going on with their young lives, playing those stupid car games and such. These events became our family vacations where we would explore cities and states we normally wouldn't have given second thoughts. Yes it cost a lot but I would do it all over again even if son didn't continue with baseball. I probably had more fun then son on those trips, miss those days.
