Ball is hit to right field, right fielder is camped under it but misplays it (in and out of the glove)...Runner on 3rd tags and scores. If it had been an out, the batter would sit down and the sac fly wouldn't count against the batting average correct? But since the right fielder misplayed it, the batter is safe on first, the runner on 3rd scores, and the play (which becomes a reached on error) does count negatively against the batting average correct? So, the batter is not penalized on his AVG if he's successfully out, but is penalized on his AVG if he is fails and is safe? I know that's playing with the words..just thinking it through.
