Safe or Force Out?

Man on first, 0 outs. Ground ball hit to the first baseman. He fields the ball and touches first base. The runner on first never leaves the bag. AFTER touching first base, the tags the runner who is still on first base. Is this a force out or is the runner still entitled to first base sense the force was taken off when the first baseman tagged the bag? Is the runner required to leave the bag?
