A friend of mine who eventually became Alston’s pitching coach, told me he couldn’t believe the Dodgers wouldn’t just put Koufax on the bump and just let him pitch. He said the talent he had was so overwhelming, for some reason people couldn’t understand it was just a matter of allowing him to find what worked for him.
