how do i apply for a scholarship?

if i am applying from Australia and want to play baseball for a USA college, what do they look for and what will make me stand out?

how long after high school should i apply?

at the moment i am in high school and have 1 1/2 years left and want to go to america to play a HIGH standard of baseball!
