BBB08 - I asked each coach that offered both of my sons scholarships what their policy was on renewal.

Nearly all said that their university would not allow them to decrease scholarships based on athletic performance. A few hemmed and hawed...neither son went to those schools.

All reserved the right to reduce or remove a scholarship based on academic performance or serious misconduct.

Ask the question up front. You can learn a lot by either the straightforward answer they give you...or...by the lack of a clear answer.
