Senior year injuries

My son 17 year old senior(1.8 catcher and switch hitter 3.7 gpa)has had a string of injuries and illness. The most recent is tommy John surgery which he might not be rehabbed in time for summer. He has only gotten a couple of months of visibility in the last 18 months(never 100%), which has led to some interest. He has been scared to reply because we were not sure what was going on with his arm. Iam not sure what to tell him, I know he can try to walk on somewhere. What other visibility can he get when already college age?
