I need to add that the pitchers hitting the fungos are often strictly pitchers, especially in high level HS/college baseball.

They never hit or train for hitting. They throw and jog in the off-season rather than going to batting cages.

I know how my arms feel after hitting to the kids.... dead and in pain... for three days!
