I can't see them "forcing" that kid to pitch, but they might force a pitching change.

In our case the (new) pitcher had to pitch to the hitter....not one pitch but througout the first hitters whole at bat. That is the part I did not understand, and still don't. I was going to have him throw one pitch and then bring in another pitcher. The umpire would not allow it.
I totally understand that my 2nd basemen should not have picked up the game ball, touched the rubber and pretended to throw home.
