Here's why: Younger kids were also trying out for about 20 slots on Missouri's Junior Sunbelt Games team that would enter a prestigious tourney against similar teams from about 8 states including Texas and California. Therefore the showcase was especially attractive for sophs and juniors.

While the stats weren't impressive by PG standards, I'm sure the 07s and 08s there were generally above average by Missouri standards. On the other hand, the names don't include Missouri's most elite kids. 90 mph pitchers, especially those from St.Louis and Kansas City, don't have as much to gain from Sun Belt Games exposure.

So who did the coaches pick?
