That's not really an accurate picture of the situation, TPM. But, I've heard that too. In reality, unless Omaha did something about the facilities they were going to lose the CWS. The stadium locked it in Omaha for a long time. Also, while times are tough everywhere, the employment picture is awfully good in Omaha...and Nebraska overall. And, in reality, the stadium wasn't that expensive when compared to other facilities built recently.
Most of the people grumbling were older people who had season tickets for years and years and simply didn't want to change/lose their seat location. The way they treated their CWS season ticket holders was pretty bad. To sum it up it was "send us your money, if you want a seat....we'll let you know where it is".
