Reply to "South Texas Professional Scouts Showcase"

Infield08, The showcase was pretty well organized although I don't think there were as many scouts as last year. The one thing I don't like that they did was that they had about 3 or 4 older free agent guys who just jumped in to the hitting twice each after not doing anything else. So we happened to be in the second to last group of hitters and it was getting dark and they had been letting earlier guys take 8-10 cuts, a few even more, but the guy who threw to our group was six quick pitches and out. This showcase had advertised for 09's and 10's but they were letting these older guys who we know are older because at least one was at another tryout camp we were at and I knew he was a released pro player. I don't mind them hitting if they wait til last since they weren't the age the showcase was advertised at and the scouts said they only need to see about six swings but they let these guys jump in right at the start twice and it just pushed everybody else back when there were about 200 guys waiting to hit. I know somebody has to be at the end and it was just our bad luck. Oh well, the rest was done pretty efficiently and there was some talent there.
