I have been on both sides of this (Varsity Coach 1980-1994 in New Jersey) ALL I ever wanted was for the umpire to be consistant PERIOD. I always liked the umpire who would call low the strike zone, because thats where I taught my pitchers to pitch (keep the ball in the park).
