You're pushing the bat with your arms. Learn the use of the hands, but don't let them disconnect from body rotation. The hands must act independently, but not independently of rotation. Feel the hands work. Worry less about "swinging level". Proper swings are slightly up.

Read up on the use of the rear hip.
