Many college coaches sign player that they know they dont have a chance at signing. When Matlock moved over to TCU Kelly and Italiano both signed with TCU with the coaches knowing they would go high in the draft. But just signing big prospect kids like that will help the program even if they dont get them. They can show a good list to potential players. And you never know, sometimes once in a blue moon one of those high round kids will not go pro. So why not take a shot.
