Given that he's also 29 and hasn't played in a decade, he'd be extraordinarily unlikely to be worth investing time in as well, though if you had to pick up the sport after a decade off, pitcher would seem like the spot you'd be most likely to have a shot at (see Jim Morris).
And, given that Matt Bush and Josh Hamilton both play(ed) MLB, I'm not convinced that Kapernick's political views should really be an impediment, though I admit I don't know enough about the NFL to know if they're really costing him an NFL job relative to the opportunities he'd get without them.
