It seems like a lot of hard work, excellent coaching, and notable talent are converging this year for DBU's team.

Dan Heefner is DBU's new head coach this year, having previously served as the Patriots' hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. He and his coaching staff (pitching coach Travis Wykoff, RC/fielding coach Nate Frieling, and grad asst. Cody Montgomery) have done an outstanding job developing DBU's talent. Equally wonderful is the fact that the players have absolutely loved the way the program is being run this year.

Austin Knight, a freshman All-American last year, is headed to the Cape Cod league this summer, as is DBU's RHP Victor Black. I was talking to a pro scout the other day who had recently attended a DBU game and he was very excited about the draft prospects for junior outfielder Evan Bigley and senior closer Tyson Bagley. Six players have BA over .325 and another 5 are at .300 or right on the bubble.

DBU's prospects look very bright, and a lot of folks are wishing them the very best as they take on the Houston Cougars Friday night!
