Your original post was asking about the hands. You mentioned that "most coaching with the hands involves arms." So my perspective on your original post is the batter should lead with the hands... meaning the hands are ahead of the arms in the swing.

As for contradicting a book ... i haven’t read it so i do not know. Hands vs hips is a different discussion.

I'd be interested to see a hitter LEAD with the arms. The hands are attached to the arms... I'm sure you know that.

Knob to the ball utilizes the arms.
Barrel to the ball utilizes the hands.
