As important as GPAs are to getting into college and reducing the amount of athletic money a coach has to use up, success in life is not always directly related to GPAs. There are lots of successful people who had low GPAs and dropped out of school. What the coaches want is to see marks that limit the risk of a player becoming ineligible.
