Update on this...for the first time heard about a useful application of this rule. We know a kid (2022) who was all conference at a state powerhouse and starred for an elite travel team. Good size and speed (6.7). Profiled as a corner OF and got D1 looks but nothing solid. Decided to leverage this rule and reclassed to a '23. Had a great Summer and just accepted an excellent offer from a mid major that consistently is in the mix for conference championship.
