But due to academics he should probably go to a D3 instead of juco. Think there is a way for him (after COVID redshirt era over) to preserve an extra year to go D1 as a grad student? He'd have to med redshirt a year right?

Why would he need the 2026 season as a medical red shirt? I think many jucos could provide the academic rigor required to transfer to a good D1. Is that your concern with juco?
