Reply to "Whitney Young 2007 Sophomore Team"

At Horner Park (Irving Park Road and California) on the main diamond it was Whitney Young over Lane Tech 5-3 this afternoon. Both teams played well. The Winning Pitcher for Young was Nate Kamin; 6-IP, 3 Runs, 3 Hits, 5-K's, 2-BB, HBP. Making an appearance and getting the Save was Gabe Henriques who recorded 2-K's coming in to pitch in the 7th Inning for the final three outs. The final out of the game was a U-3.

Dai Bowden opened up the game and put Young in the lead in his very first at bat with a 3 RBI Homerun. Young got it going quick and never looked back. Other hits came from Henriques-Single; Andrew Platt going 2 for 3 with two Singles; Eli Boyer-Single; Nate Kamin-Single and a Sac Fly from Cinnamon which scored a run.

Other game highlights included a 4-6-3 Cinamon-Henriques-Ormond Double Play in the 2nd Inning; there were 2 outstanding plays at Shortstop in the 4th from the glove of Henriques which were real show stoppers. Einebohn Caberara was stellar in Center Field and Platt in Right Field made a key play in the 1st Inning to stop a Lane run from scoring with a great throw to the cutoff man which was relayed to the catcher, Eric Short to nail the runner at home plate.

Young scored its 5 Runs on 6 Hits and 1 Error. Lane scored 3 Runs on 4 Hits and 3 Errors.

The win was big, and gives Young home field advantage through the CPL playoffs. Young goes up against Harlan tomorrow. Then it is University of Chicago High and Fenwick are next.
