Reply to "Wood Bats @ Connecticut American Legion State Tournament Stirs Debate"

When you have four nine-inning games in a week with only an 18-man roster, keeping pitch counts down is a big issue. I would love to see our SC state committee consider this change.
Also, I think the issue of extra cost with wooden bats is a bit of a straw man. Most kids wear out or break an aluminum bat over about one year's time, and those bats can easily cost $300 or more. Besides, it's a lot easier to replace a bat than a pitcher's elbow or shoulder.
