Hey Mom, sorry I missed you guys. I think you played right after us one day. We played at 11:30 at South HS Saturday and I think you guys were coming in for a 2:00 game there. We had to rush out for a 2:00 game across the street.
We did pretty good. We went 1-0-2 in pool play and actually won our pool. Wound up winning the first game in the playoffs against the Atlanta BlueJays and then lost 3-2 to the East Cobb Braves 17u team.
My son did well, although I can relate to your frustration in a way. He started on the mound the 1st game of the tournament for us. Went 5 innings, 7 K's, 2 BB's, no hits and gave up one unearned run. Next pitcher came in and no-hit for two innings. We wound up tying 1-1 after having pitched a no-hitter. Run scored on my son's watch. Routine grounder to short - boot. Pick off to first gets past 1st baseman. Curveball in the dirt hits off catcher about 4 feet away, catcher throws over 3rd baseman's head and the runner scores. Next batter K's, would have ended the inning. How's that for irritating??
Then he closed the BlueJays game. Had two singles off him in 1 2/3 innings, but no runs on him. Two K's, 1 BB and 3 ground outs in that outing.
Pretty good overall. His velocity was down a little from a month ago (84 vs. 86), but he made it work. The tournament was a lot of fun.
