He's 8 years old. Go to Walmart and buy any bat he can swing comfortably. In a couple of years if he progresses buy him a better bat.

The biggest mistake with very young players and bats is that the bat is too long. Make sure he can swing the bat without too much effort that messes up his natural swing.
