The only con I could think of is that the son that doesn't have a scholarship might not get that benefit of the doubt....some coaches favor guys on scholarships, so I'd check to see if there's any reason to believe this coach would do that.

I know that I can always come here for disagreement. If you think end loaded bats are good for really young hitters that is great. I've swung every high and medium level youth bat. Some are more end loaded and cause hands to cast or the hitter to wrap the ball. The balanced bats provide more bat control for young players. I have timed numerous swing speeds and measured tons of balls off the tee for distance comparing these bats. The bat I have posted has produced the best results and best...

I guess the bat companies like Easton and everybody else are just wasting their money with all that silly research and development. I guess taking buckets of balls, numerous models of bats and hitting them off the tee and measuring distance doesn't matter either. You are wasting time trying to argue that these bats don't matter. Some bats hit better than others. It is that simple. There is a reason composite bats are being banned in the NCAA. Do you even know how an Exogrid compares to a...

Absolutely! It is good to see other players that you know in the box scores to send them congrats for a job well done! I am responsible for calling in our box scores after each home game. Typically, the home team calls it in. I would ask your coach if that is something you can do for him. The DMN phone number is 214-977-8444. You need to call before 10 PM, but I have known them to take it after that time. Good luck.

Watch out for Con Val, they will surprise people. Con Val has 2 amazing coaches. They love the kids and do whatever they can for them to succeed. Tempone will be a force on the mound. They also have Kyle Fisher who is one of the top hitter in Class I. Those two players are ideal to lead this team. There are players who will back them up like Cohen, Martin, and Sullivan. Just to clarify, I'm not saying Bedford would have beat Portsmouth I was just saying they might have had a better chance to beat Portsmouth if Nate Jones didn't pitch against them. I agree with mcaravella though Con Val does have a very good team as well I forgot about them. I think there will be good competition in Class I this year, but of course I hope Portsmouth has a great season and good luck to them!

Tough lineup to pitch against, but that field they play on is not only a joke, but an injury waiting to happen. The condition of the outfield is bad enough, but when you add in the 10 foot hill that runs from left to center, it's like playing the outfield while trying to scale a mountain. It's crazy how when the power guys on the opposition come to the plate, the LF climbs up and plays on top of the hill. I can't believe the state allows games to be played in such an unsafe setting.

NHFan and GSBA were right on with their reports from the Bedford / St. Thomas game. Joey Maher coupled with a huge 1st inning for the Bedford offense were the stories in this game. Maher limited the potent St. Thomas offense to 0 runs on 2 hits with 4 K's in 6 innings. He got it done on 79 pitches and his defense played an error free game behind him. Nice summary Shawn. I was at the game as well. I'm pretty certain Dugdale will pitch in the rematch on Monday for Souhegan. With Bedford playing Laconia tomorrow, and Con-Val next Wednesday, it's possible that Maher may be in line for that start as well. I agree on the umpire. Ridiculously tight strike zone. My guess is that each pitcher had at least six walks each or more, and it really wasn't indicative of how either kid pitched.

The reclassification timeline in the newsletter is for 2012/13 and 2013/14 years, not this 2011/2012 school year. After Oct. 27 approval teams may begin scheduling for Fall 2012-13, not this spring. But I do suspect that maybe the committee is recommending certain teams adjust Divisions in 2012/2013. Goffstown, Portmouth and Bedford were the largest Division 2 schools so those seem to make sense. Hollis-Brookline being included doesn't make any sense unless their enrollment changed...

BAC is correct. These changes would be for the 2012-2013 school year. I think Milford may have passed Con-Val in enrollment, and is now over 1000. This is per the NHIAA web site, which may not be the most current figures used for the upcoming reclassifications.

What should we teach our kids? 1. Misbehavior will be met with punishment. 2. To err is human, to forgive divine -- just don't be a dupe for someone who's trying to con you. 3. Punishments are tailored in proportion to the severity of the offense. Commit even the slightest offense, and you will never again get to have the benefit of the doubt given to those with spotless records. Now there’s a question that should elicit a lot of different answers. A weak con for me would be that it bucks tradition. I can’t see how it would be possible for a normal program with limited funds, to be able to keep the grass intact, unless the field use was minimal. The 3rd base line would likely hold up fairly well, but the 1st base line would have its grass pretty well beat up in just a few games, and there’d be no way to get it to recover during the season because grass grows too...
