Diablo con Huevos, I work with perfect game on a project called baseballwebtv, so you can dismiss what I say if you'd like, but I believe you definitely have the wrong idea about perfectgame. It seems you have the idea that they just sit back and collect money...I can tell you that this is absolutely not the case. In fact, I think the guys that run a couple showcases a year probably make a ton more money for themselves than Anyone at perfectgame. Trust me, they aren't driving around in cars...

Let me just add - going to PG events is also alot of fun. I remember going to my first Jupiter tournament with my eldest son several years ago - and I remain amazed at the talent that was there that year. When it was all over - I remember my son coming up to me after his last game - he was dog tired and a bit beat up. He strolled on over - and the first thing he said was - "Dad - that was pretty cool".

COACHBLU25 ·
Thank You and I agree with the momentum going in the direction of the throw. I don't agree with the right foot replacing the left because the momentum is going in 2 directions. I will continue teaching this way. I have some players I trained in the past year that are being taught the former along with some different front arm angles. They've contacted me and I posted on this forum to see what coaches feel is best. Thanks to everyone who responded pro or con, including Linear.

Re: The Truth's #1 Preseason Team

Mike F ·
Phil, I have a few comments... IMO, rankings based on stats would be tough unless every team played each other. There are too many variables otherwise. A kid hitting .300 in a top conference (with a tough non-con schedule) facing great pitching will be hard to compare to a kid hitting .390 versus a much softer group of pitchers. The .300 kid may be way better...who knows for sure based on stats? While I agree that excellent stats probably indicate talent, ranking in order based on them would...

Re: Why Not!

TPM ·
I do agree with Fungo on some points, but I think that parents in the stands are a lot different than they were even a few years ago. On son's travel team, the manager called a meeting BEFORE you paid any money. It was a mandatory meeting for both players and parents. If you don't come, you don't play, even those who played before. At that meeting, the rules are basically set for players, and suggestions for parents to follow, everything explained. Some of it included some of the above. This...

I think that this is the distinction that the hitting instructor we use stresses. I believe that it is a mental cue to get the hands moving before the shoulder opens. Period. Obviously the lower half and the core are where much of the power comes from. But in no way do I believe that the hands are along for the ride. Strong forearms and hands are key. Not just for holding onto the bat.

What if you followed the second rated instructor? If all the major leaguers got the same instruction they should swing all the same as those Japanese players did. (Funny how can they swing alike eachother) I don't think A-ROD is good because he got a good instructor. There's natrual talent in him. Beware who you learn from. As long as it works, there's nothing wrong with it.

Not a PG lover Deviled Egg? Perfect Game rankings aren't "perfect"...that's for sure, but it's the best available and I think they do a good job researching the teams, regardless of whether you play in their events. If you play or see one of their highly ranked teams play, you will most probably leave fairly impressed. Test the theory tomorrow night. Two of PGs top ranked 17U teams (Dallas Patriots (Stout) and Dallas Yankees) will be playing each other in a BBI DH scheduled for 6:00pm/8:00pm...

Notes for Class I games last night. PHS lower order hitters, younger guys, did a good job of hitting last night. Our son had never played at Gill and always wanted to, don't think he wants to play there again. Two well hit fly balls to LC Power Alley and straight away center, both looked nice and out in most parks but not last night. Just score it F7 and F8 - that's baseball. Think I have only been to Gill once before - other than right down the lines is that a big park or is it may...

Diablo: This is really unfair to the FM 1b, who is a good kid, and his father, a high quality person. I do have experience with them, in summer ball, and that experience is completely inconsistent with any suggestion that they are complainers, or that the father unreasonably promotes his son. Do you have experience otherwise?

Diablo just likes to assume the worse in people...He doesn't know the kids dad but still talks trash about him on this site! I couldn't even tell you who the kids parents are because I have never met them. However the kid is so humble and unassuming that he probably doesn't get the credit he deserves. I have not seen better numbers at the plate from anyone in the state of Texas! I am sure that everyone on the list deserves to be there. I just think that this kid was overlooked!

Re: For the Parents

ClevelandDad ·
You're the king of free speech TR so I hope you won't mind that in my opinion you are wrong on this one. Let the parents and the players worry themselves whether they get their hopes up - it's not your job to manage their emotions. If X, Y, and/or Z have made inquiries, the parent/player needs to know that. More importantly, this type of feedback is highly motivational to the player. You can let them know that nothing is serious until they are contacted further by the schools, but they need...
