No, I play on the number one Tiger team. That was coached by Lowry when we won Super Series, and then Dusty Hart last year. To add confusion, and enhance my frustration of the Marshal ordeal, McCabe became our coach this year because Coach Hart took the head coaching job at Grayson. He brought over some of his players, and was going to coach...and yet now the coach they thought they had is gone... That's for the other message board.

KCR Please do not remind me of that team... wasn't that the bunch when we all met out in Marshal, TX for the AABC state tourney... we ended up having to double-dip you guys on Sunday... won the first game and then along came that **** Robert ray charqacter again and stuck it to us for about 5 innings.... That was HOT, HOT, and HUMID... but some dang good baseball... and you did have a great team... That was teh year everyone thought about just going to marshal because noone would be out...

I think the hardest is the reality for us they CAN survive on their own. I sent mine off today quite a bit differently from the first two years. First year the truck was packed full, last year groceries mostly, this year, some pretzels, peanut butter crackers, water and bananas. Reason, he now knows where the local Wal Mart is, much easier just to use the debit card than mom running all over the place filling up the cart. If this is your only one or last one leaving, it leaves a hole, for a...

CoachB25 ·
I stand corrected and apologize to Will, rz1 and pg. I haven't taken offense at the topic or the direction of the thread. I have been where this coach is. I also had a group of parents very upset with my coaching style ... (different sport than basebal) I have been attacked by a parent and the end result wasn't too good for that parent. I felt terrible for the boy. Dad bit off more than he could chew. However, the basic tenant of my questioning remains. According to whom should I be judged...

That's why I told you I am a "rookie" on baseball. I never played basebal before. I have very high expectation on my son. Because he is really good at current level. Hitting, pitching, fielding all around. Every coach saw him told me he is going to be a "big time player". But actually he didn't prove anything yet (as a HS freshman, he havn't played a sigle HS game yet, what do you expect?). But his talent is there for sure. I read some draft news about some player got the signing bonus from...

I must admit this is the most entertaining discussion we have had in the pitching forum for quite some time. I think I will go watch my son's next bullpen and do some drag line analysis. I am not sure if he will be admitted to the Kingdom of SAD or not. He is certainly not a member of the Genghis Marshal Khan clan.

Loveumbb, sone plays for one of their conference oponents. FGCU has whooped them the two years we have played them. They have a very good mid major baseball program. Theorictically, they were the 43rd best team in the NCAA DI last year. http://warrennolan.com/basebal...rence/Atlantic%20Sun

After some sleep I realized LineDrive is right, this topic is exactly why I started coming to this site, I needed advise. I felt bad because none of out baseball friends told us about the DFW - Select Baseball Superstructure and there was no one place to go for advice. Everyone was interested in making sure there son had a spot on "the" team. The question about Premier Association Teams is very fair and the real answer is if your son is invited to a P team or makes a P team through a try-out...

For what it is worth...IMO the reason that there is an assumption that the Mustangs have declined is because during the 90's the Mustangs were "it" they were the "one" team that everyone knew was good, stacked, and dominant...not the group of teams you see now! Like I mentioned before RESULTS are still there....

Re: Arguing balls and strikes

Welpe ·
Rob, was this a college game? I ask because you are quoting the NCAA rule. In Federation, a chop block occurs only when there is a low block at or below the knee of a player that is already being engaged by another blocker. I have not seen the actual foul occur too often in games that I've done. It is perfectly legal for two offensive linemen to block a defender high and low as long as it is at the same time, or if the there is a delay between blocks, the low block is the first block. Now it...

Re: The Pitching Experts

TPM ·
RJM, For a 14 year old I would keep it kind of simple, Wolforth, Strom, House and Ellis provide easy and basic stuff, Jaeger a good, but as JH says some of his stuff is unorthodox and maybe for the older pitcher. Many pitchers are taught "Marshal tenents". I am not sure if that is what they really are to begin with.

Koufax attended Brooklyn's Lafayette High School, where he was better known for basketball than for baseball. He became team captain in his senior year, and ranked second in his division in scoring, with 165 points in 10 games. Koufax attended the University of Cincinnati and was a walk-on on the freshman basketball team, a complete unknown to coach Ed Jucker, the varsity basebal coach. CoachB25, You don’t owe anyone an apology. You have my utmost respect and support. It has been said by a good friend, a moderator, and a well respected member of this site, that the Illinois Forum is perceived as the toughest forum on the HSBBW… with Texas a close second. I was surprised when he said that… I didn’t see it. Re: Rice bucket exercises

BobbleheadDoll ·
I would never do that just before throwing. Rice buckets were used in marshal arts to strengthen fingers. If you are going to do it do it after you throw. Part of pitching is being able to feel the ball and apply finger presure. Arm shpuld be lose and not over worked before pitching.

Re: Rice bucket exercises

I agree. I think this can be useful to develop hand strength, which can help with one's curveball in particular, but you shouldn't do it right before pitching.

Re: FIRST BAPTIST CONTINUED

I don't think I over-moderate -- but you are welcome to open a poll on the subject. A moderator cannot win here --- as no one wants their views to be "restricted" in any way. And yet others send me private messages with opinions that suggest I intervene more often. **shrug** You should check out the chaos on the other sports message boards -- many of the posters here are glad to have our "structure". I welcome all feedback on the subject of over-moderation. The pay isn't really that good.

Mr. Basebal...what math? You'd rather "hope" that the pitcher will walk you? (and "hope" you win?) That tells me you don't trust your hitters enough to execute. Best of luck to your hitters.

Every family has to make their own decision regarding their child's select baseball experience. If your player is currently a Marshal or a Tiger or any other team, and you are happy with the organization, why would you leave or have a problem with this merger...it doesn't affect you, nor does it drive up any costs to you. As far as that goes, this merger was just announced, so we don't know yet how it will impact the area baseball, if it does at all. Regarding the recruiting of players on...

I would have to say that this team is very well put together. They have an all around approach to the way they are handling this team and it shows in their practices and meetings. I'm excited to watch my kids play for this team this year and I hope we have a great year with many more to come. The team site is awesome, whoever did their website design did an amazing job. I do remember the other OF that FSU signed that year, Shane Robinson...had a HUGE career with the Seminoles and now plays in the big leagues with the Cardinals (I think Shane was a fifth round pick out of FSU, maybe in 2006). We are all far from perfect. But in my experience around the game I have come across some parents that push push push. And it affects the kid in a negative way. No we do not want to sugarcoat things but sometimes their is a line we cross. What if your kid goes o-4 ks with the bases loaded twice and has 2 errors? How do you as a parent approach that? Get all over him etc etc? I have seen that and it is not pretty. A kid is exposed at that at 9 and 10 and pretty soon he gets tired of that and...

As stated, it comes down to proper mechanics [and also if a youngster's anantomy at the time will withstand the stress]. I think the main point is this: Why jeopardize a kid's health and future?? So you can win some mythical state championship that are a dime a dozen? How many HS or collge coaches give a rat's behind what your record or BA was when you were 12?? The problem with the article is that most of the guys out there coaching think they are smarter than the "real experts" and will...

I don't remember seeing a post where anyone claimed that the Firebirds were not the best team. I didn't claim that to be the case. I wasn't there -- I can't comment on which team was best. For the most part, the topic recounts the games...with good pictures from one of the dads. None of the TIger or DBAT or Patriot or Marshal parents came on here to claim their team is the best.
