KB2610 a deterent does protect . Its intent is to make people think hard before doing something that has tough repercussions. More importantly it sends a message to others that might think you can get away with something. Most people who are involved with drugs etc don't do it alone. The problem may run a little deeper than the one individual. I think being late for a bus is a little different. Our coaches had those rules and they enforced them. If someone informed the coach a valid reason...

Re: Pitching Speed...?

Callaway, I was at an Oakland game where they were using a gun. Of course they had it set up at a 45 degree angle to the people doing the throwing. Fastest reading was low 60s, including some kids who looked like HS pitchers. The only other setup I'm familiar with is the one they use at Angel stadium where they have a simulated batter on a screen. The speed readings they get on that one are consistent with a fast gun but you're only throwing from about 30 or 40'.

I'm in the Conroe/Woodlands area too. Far enough north to avoid flooding problems from storm surge but lost three big trees with one through the roof and ceiling. We are tarped and patched up until we can rebuild that section of the house. The pulling together of the community was overwhelming. Neighbors brought us a generator within hours of the storms passing. We were without water for 4 days and power for 5. The water was the worst. We communicated our situation by text to a friend. I read an analysis of this recently that noted that almost the entire difference in this study was based on the calls of Angel Hernandez and another hispanic umpire. The analysis also showed that regardless they were both doing an excellent job of calling the strike zone.

Great job Rowlett ! For those looking to get involved, another organization similar to Angel League is Miracle League of Frisco. They have both baseball and s****r leagues in both spring and fall and it is very rewarding to be a part of it. CS son and I have enjoyed volunteering as buddies for the athletes. They have a special turf baseball field that is flat so that it is wheelchair friendly. (click on the link and you can see the field). Here is a link to the Miracle League of Frisco...

Returning from a Pre-State All Star selection meeting near Camden Yards off I-95 last Dec. After meeting, left to get home late. Yet had a front tire blow-out going 65 on I-95. Car swerved, spun, hit the curb at an exit ramp, also crushing the wheel rim. With hands shaking, drove to Rt 1, and changed the tire. Stayed on Rt 1 only to have the rear tire blow out at 30 mph. Called AAA, who showed up two hours later. Then the AAA, who was driving me and car to the local shop, got a flat tire.

Maybe not as far as breaking team rules. But what specifically are they? I had never heard of a kid only able to play on the weekends. If he is allowed to play at all he should be allowed to play whenever the the team plays. If it is a written rule that has been broken, bench the kid or kick him off or do whatever the penalty is supposed to be. I am not a fan of arbitrary punishments. Do the crime, do the time. Kids make mistakes and should be punished, then forgiven. I doubt if anybody was...

For the people reading this, do not confuse throwing with pitching. Today's kids throw too little and pitch too much. Throwing builds arm strength. Pitching too much tears arms down. Spahn played in an era, as someone else mentioned, when we threw all day, every day, all summer. Not pitched, threw. We all had arm strength. Those good enough to play MLB ball had incredible arm strength. Spahn once went 16 innings and 163 pitches. I believe Juan Marichal also went the distance that game with a...

A group of scouts, associate scouts have formed this league and expanded it to include other kids... As far as a specific team actually sponsoring a...
