Re: Blue Grey Classic- Dissapointed
Blue/Grey at William & Mary and Wake Forest are probably the two best. There were 30-40 scouts in attendance from the Mid-Atlantic region at both, the year my son went. Rain unfortunately is a chance you take, I imagine they book the college for a particular date rain or shine. I know while at William & Mary, the head coach at the time, Coach Farr, was out on the field until 2 AM after some rain to ensure the field was ready the next morning. CV

Re: 06' Top Unsigned Seniors
Yesterdays event went off without a hitch. I think this was a great event for everyone involved. Hopefully we can find some of these great players some schools to attend. While the snow might have kepy a few schools from commuting we had around 12-15 schools and a couple pro scouts. Overall this event was a big success and hopefully a springbboard to getting some of these players some money for school. Our final roster looked like this: Catchers: Matt Dittman – Libertyville Nick Morreale-...

Re: Headfirst
I took my son to the first Honor Roll camp held at the Va. Sports Complex last August (2005). The turnout was amazing, I think over 200 players. There were players there from all over the country, as far away as California. I hadn't realized until I got there that this camp's reputation was that good. The camp had a large number of college coaches there, in many cases the head coaches. The focus was on high academic schools such as the Ivies, Georgetown, etc. A lot of D3 schools. UVA was...

Re: does a strong midsection lead to increase in velocity and bat speed?
jsorb, I'll respond in the order of how you stated your information. Is the cheese raw or pasteurized? Metabolic typing basically uses science to figure out what ratios of food best suit your individual metabolism. This information is based on research performed over the last 70 to 80+ years by men like: Dr. Roger Williams, William Wollcott and Weston A. Price to some degree...although you're liable to start a debate if you tell Sally Fallon that (she's the president of the Weston A. Price...

Meh, only marginal access. I am also 17 so that makes money an issue as well. I can get organic honey and some vegetables on a regular basis. If you like to discuss supplementation/diet, bodybuilding.com is the place to go. I've learned volumes from the places, straight from the best...Patrick Arnold, Bruce Kneller, William Llewlyn, etc...they're all there.

Re: UMW
UMW is making a rapid rise in its reputation for academics and the caliber of its students. Most people do not realize that its incoming freshman classes have average SAT scores that are the third highest in VA, behind only William & Mary and UVA -- higher than Va. Tech or Madison, and all others too. It is a relatively small school, about 4,000 students I think. It has a very comfortable, small college/college town feel. You will not see the great abundance of frills and facilities that...

Re: Will Being a Walk-On Ever Be the Same Again?
Plus there are lots of other variables. As TPM taught me some time back, 11.7 doesn't always mean 11.7. The NCAA takes an average cost of attending, multiplies that by 11.7 and gives the team a $ budget to work with. If a state university gives an in-state guy 50%, then he's getting money equal to 50% of the in-state cost, but that is less than 50% of the AVERAGE cost of attending. So a team that focuses on in-state guys can milk far more out of its 11.7 allotment. There are sometimes...

Re: pitching schools
We were very impressed with Greg Bauer at Wake Forest. He's just in his second year but that's who we decided to cast our lot with. He is not a cookie cutter guy, but rather someone who looks for a variety of styles to develop guys with roles to use in different situations. Maryland has Jim Farr, who used to be the head at William & Mary, where he put a surprising number of guys into the pros, including O's closer Chris Ray and former first rounder Bill Bray. Farr was a MLB guy himself.
