HeadFirst or Showball Showcase for July 15-16, 2019
My 2020's tournament schedule this Summer has narrow openings for showcases and this is likely the only out-of-town one he can do one. Problem is, HF and SB are both having one at the same times with schools he's interested in at both. Some schools have representatives at both but SB says it is "all head coach" showcase. He's looking at HA D1 and D3 schools. Wondering if anyone else is encountering problem of deciding between the two for this weekend. Research of past posts suggests that...

Player Development roadmap for my 2024 Grad Year son - sure could use some advice
Sure could use some advice from coaches that offer guidance to players, or from parents that have navigated this journey before me. My only son is a 2024 grad year multi-sport student athlete entering 8th grade. He just now finished his 12u 50/70 travel ball with a trip to Cooperstown Dreams Park - so much fun. Moving up to 60/90 full time this fall. The kid loves to play, just about any sport, however his interest is greatest with baseball. Over the last few years in youth travel baseball,...

How to get on the radar of schools from October - March?
All, New poster here but have been lurking for a while. Thank you to all who are active and provide tons of insights to those like me. I have a 2022 who loves to catch and can play anywhere but MI. He has done one PBR here locally. He is a bigger kid who has some power and have heard from more than one baseball person that he has D1 potential (whatever that means). He is flexible and athletic at 6'3" 185 and is getting measurably faster and stronger now that he is working with a strength and...

Position to showcase?
So I'm not sure where to post this as I'm a new member. My question is my son who is a 2022 grad but will not turn 15 until August of 2019 plays both for his high school and tournament teams. The problem is for high school he pitches and plays shortstop, for tournament he pitches and plays outfield. He has a great fastball (mid 80s) but is an inconsistent pitcher,so is not used often. My real question is where would you showcase him when his position constantly changes? And does anyone else...

PBR Cancelled? No refund?
Has anybody had any experience with PBR cancelling a 2 day showcase the day before it is to start? So far, they are offering a "credit" or trying to send us to an out of state tournament. We did not cancel, they did. So shouldn't our money be refunded? Has anybody else dealt with this issue? We thought PBR was a well known showcase?

Winter pitching velocity
Hello! I'm looking for some perspective on what I can expect from off-season workouts in terms of pitching velocity. My 2022 (age 15.5) ended last season on a good note, touching 81 and sitting 80 in his last two outings. What can I expect when he starts showcasing next month? He's doing a 4x/week velocity program but has just started throwing lightly. He showcases in the middle of next month. Will he gain because of rest and lifting? Will be stay the same because he hasn't thrown much yet...

Tips for Showcase Bullpens
My 2021 RHP has topped out at 84 and sits 80-83 verified by his travel program's pitching coach. He did a camp at a HA DIII this past October and his velocity dropped 3-4 mph. Could have been just an off day, or maybe he was pressing. Anyone have any tips I can share with him for maintaining velo during showcase and in non-game situation? I feel like he's trying to do too much but I'm not sure what kind of practical advice to give him other than top out at 87 and make your "bad days" 83-84,...

Good Showcases/Camps
I created this thread to list some of the cheaper more better options for players coming up that want to get better and spread their name. I have invited to many showcases in the last few years, but many of them seem like a waste of time and to much money saying that most of them came during my freshman year. Most of the invites came because of interest in a left handed catcher. I think a lot of kids are getting invited to some of these showcases in camps just to bring in a little money to...

2018 Pounding the Pavement...
This seems to be a dead thread. Maybe we can revive it a little for the 2018 class? My son was at a showcase last weekend and had a great time, a pretty good showing considering it's Florida and it was very cold and sprinkly/misty the whole time - the coldest of winter days for this neck of the woods. The showcase director spoke to the boys after each day and gave them the opportunity to shake hands with all of the scouts that were there and then they were able to speak to them, in their...
