You have to accept the fact that some kids will quit the sport because they have more passion for another sport. Then you have the kids that quit for other reasons. Baseball when played on 60' bases is fun for all kids. When they move up to the "big" diamond their baseball shortcomings become glaring faults. In our LL this was the time that we lost the biggest group of kids. At that time of their lives self esteem is very fragile and in their minds it was easier to make up an excuse not to...

NCAA South Region Update: North Carolina Wesleyan defeated Bridgewater 7 to 5. The game resumed this morning. VWC vs. Bridgewater today at 1 p.m. The winner plays again in the 4 p.m. contest. As far as lights, you read me right, there are no lights at NCWC for the region tournament. The difference between Feller, Seaver, Ryan, Gibson, etc. and HS kids now could be that when they were in HS (heck, even when I was in HS), there was baseball season...football season...basketball season..now, players can pretty much in warmer states play baseball 11-12 months a year. For a pitcher, that's a lot of possible innings to throw, with gradual damage possibly being done. I'd made the point earlier about this being a bad time for pitchers, with double elimination...
