Re: 61st Annual Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago Awards Dinner

ELGINKLU ·
I've had the good fortune to have attended two of the Pitch 'n Hit dinners a few years back. I also have several friends who are voting members. The work that the organization does to promote the people who are often behind the scenes and don't get any recognition is highly commendable. The dinner is a great time. Even for someone who doesn't know everyone who attends as members, it's great seeing people who have devoted their lives to the better good of the game, rekindling old friendships!

i copied this in case some of you who were not there but like to make comments........ Roland Hemond, White Sox executive advisor to the GM, serves as the Honorary Chairman of the Board for the Pitch and Hit Club. (Tom Hood/AP) CHICAGO -- Watching the 2005 White Sox race to their first World Series title in almost 90 years and following the Detroit Tigers' rise as AL champions last year was certainly inspiring. Pete Caliendo is also affiliated with the TSA Academy out of Buffalo Grove. Pete gives personal hitting lessons at their academy. His international connections are second to none and he also runs a very good camp in the winter. For those that can afford this opportunity it should be a neat experience. International baseball is a once in a lifetime experience.

Re: Stanford All Star Camp - June 25-28

Two comments on this one. First of all, I have heard that the Stanford event is one of the best. Without limits on time and money, I would probably send my oldest. That being said, We all have to prioritize, and our efforts will have to be focused on the colleges that he is interested in attending, or that are interested in him. Secondly, Dolphin Mom, that "Invitation" you received is called a BROCHURE. Anyone with the funds can attend. The same for the trip to Italy. Neither one are...

Dolphin Mom ·
No insinuation, Mr. K. He had an outstanding experience last year and is going back to Stanford again this year. The European experience is just what it is with exposure to another culture combined with baseball. Julian Kenner, Class of 2008 from Whitney Young and Mike Van Pelt, Class of 2009 from Francis Parker both went to Italy last year with Pete's team and I understand they had a great experience. Caliendo is taking many of the same players to Japan this year. Best regards.

I was also impressed with the clinic this year. Coach Hall did a great job and he deserves all the credit he receives. I thought Mr. Mallee did a great job also! Good to also see and talk with Groot, Mueller, Tice, Smedley, Caliendo, Napoleon, Dobberton, Jetel, Schurr, Schneider, Adduci, Genke, Kirby Smith, and other GREAT high school instructors.
