I'm sure many of you have probably never heard of this condition. Commotio Cordis occurs when a blunt force strikes the chest during an exact spot in a heart beat. It can cause the heart to flutter and go into an arrhythmia. CPR won't help this condition. An AED is necessary to shock the heart and hopefully reset the heart to get it beating correctly again. Thanks for sharing this. In NYC, the Parks Dept. requires all baseball field permitee to be both CPR and AED trained. They provided the training and AED to each league trained personnel. The AED must be bought to the field. This is one of 2 services (free city and state college tuition to middle class families) Iust applaud my city and state for.

I believe that's all new this year, correct? Hopefully they follow suit with softball very soon!

It is my understanding youth baseball was a pilot program. The Parks Dept. is extending to all sports.

Thanks for bringing this topic into discussion. Very important. Especially with man sized kids playing on a 46' diamond.
